A quiet tide off Nusa Penida

The west side empties after lunch. What’s left is cliff light, a warung with three chairs, and a swim that doesn’t need an audience.

The boat from Sanur is loud until it isn’t. Once the cliffs take over the horizon, people stop filming and start watching the water change color.

After lunch the west side empties. The snorkel boats leave, and a warung with three plastic chairs stays open because the owner lives behind it.

I swim where the current is lazy and the reef is close enough to see without a plan. Nobody asks for a photo.

The ride back is the part I remember: salt on the notebook, and a sky that stays bright longer than the timetable.
